FAQs

PUBLIC EVENTS

What should I wear?

While Masterpiece Art Bar provides aprons for all painters, it is important that you wear something you don’t mind getting paint on.  We cannot promise the paint will come out.  Most likely, it will not.

Can I pay at the door?

It is not recommended that you count on tickets being available at the door.  We do sell tickets in advance and often sell out.  If we do happen to have available seats, you will be able to purchase a ticket at the door.  We cannot hold seats unless the tickets have been purchased ahead of time.

Can kids come to the parties?

Most of our events welcome painters ages 8 and up, but some venues host 21+ events (perfect for a grown-up night out!). You'll see the age requirement clearly marked on each event listing, and IDs will be checked at 21+ venues.

We also offer special all-ages and kids' parties—just look for those designations on the calendar!

Quick tip: Please double-check the age requirement before purchasing tickets. If you accidentally book a 21+ event for someone under 21, our standard refund policy applies—we're happy to help with a full refund if you contact us at least 10 days before the event, or we can offer credit toward a different event if you reach out 72 hours in advance.

Do you give refunds if I can no longer come?

We want you to feel confident when you register! Here's how we handle changes:

Full refunds are available up to 10 days before your event—no questions asked.

Need to reschedule? Life happens! If you let us know at least 72 hours before your event, we'll happily provide a credit toward any future event that works better for you.

We prepare specifically for each person registered—from reserving your seat to purchasing supplies based on our headcount. Because of this thoughtful preparation, we're unable to offer credits for no-shows or less than 72 hours notice, but we truly appreciate you giving us a heads-up if your plans change.

Booked through a partner link? Your ticket purchase is directly with them, so their cancellation policy applies. Feel free to reach out if you need help connecting with them!

We're here to make your experience wonderful, and we appreciate you planning ahead so we can create the best event possible for everyone.

PayPal: Just a note that we use PayPal for Masterpiece Art Bar ticket purchases. For refunds, PayPal may take as much as 10 days to process the refund. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

What time should I arrive?

We recommend that you arrive about 15-20 minutes before the event.

FUNdraisers: If you are attending a FUNdraising event at a restaurant and they are offering proceeds towards the event, you may want to come early enough to also have dinner!

Venues with Food and Beverages: You may want to arrive earlier to order food and beverages. If you want a full meal, you will want to arrive with enough tome for you to complete your meal before the painting starts. You are welcome to eat and paint, though picky foods are best for that.

Is there parking at your events?

We choose venues with convenient parking whenever possible, so you can focus on having fun rather than circling the block! For events at busier locations—like downtown spots or popular shopping areas—we'll give you a heads-up in the event details along with recommended parking options. That way, you can plan your arrival and know exactly where to go.

Where are you located?

At this time we are a fully-mobile business.  This means we do not have a physical location.  We bring the party to you!

Can I sit with my friends?

Planning to paint with friends? We recommend arriving a bit early to snag seats together—it's the best way to ensure you're side-by-side for the fun!

While we can't always guarantee specific seating arrangements, if you have a larger group or special seating needs, just email us before the event and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

What kinds of accommodations can you provide for painters with disabilities?

We want everyone to enjoy our events! If you or someone in your group would benefit from accommodations, please reach out to us at least a week before the event so we can plan ahead.

We're happy to provide support such as:

  • Seating near the instructor or with extra space

  • Printed step-by-step painting instructions

  • Additional guidance and one-on-one attention

  • Extra time to complete your painting

  • Other accommodations based on your specific needs

We're committed to working with you to make your experience enjoyable and will do everything we can to meet your needs.

Questions about venue accessibility? Just ask! We're here to help you feel confident about attending.

Private Events

Do you require a deposit for booking a private party?

Yes.  A $100 deposit is required at the time of booking event (except for FUNdraisers).

What if I need to cancel a party after it is booked?

We know that planning ahead means things can change! Here's how we handle it:

More than 60 days out? Full refund, no problem.

30-60 days before your party? We'll refund 50% of your deposit.

Need to reschedule instead? We offer a one-time date change if you let us know at least 30 days in advance—sometimes that works better than canceling!

Because we hold your date exclusively and often book months ahead, we're unable to offer refunds with less than 30 days' notice. When we reserve your spot, we turn away other bookings to make sure that day is yours.

We totally get that life happens, and we'll work with you however we can to find a solution that feels right.

What happens if I need to reschedule an event?

Plans change, and we're flexible! You can reschedule your party anytime up to 60 days before your event—no penalty, no problem. If you need to change your date closer to the event, we offer one complimentary reschedule as long as we have at least 30 days' notice.

We're here to work with you and make sure your celebration happens when the timing is right!

What happens if mother nature has other plans on the day of the event?

Weather Happens (Unfortunately, We Can't Paint That Away!)

Your safety and ours is our top priority—even if it means missing out on a perfectly good painting night.

If Mother Nature decides to crash the party with snow, ice, or other unpleasantness, we'll reach out as soon as the forecast becomes clear. We'll chat with you about the best plan, and if we need to reschedule, there's absolutely no fee.

Think of it as a conversation, not a decree! Our goal is to find a date that works for everyone and keeps us all safe and sound.

That said, if conditions look dicey for our team to travel, we'll need to reschedule—because a paint-and-sip isn't worth anyone ending up in a ditch. We promise to give you as much heads-up as possible!

Is there a fee for a personalized painting for the private party?

Custom Paintings (Yes, We Can Paint That...Probably!)

Good news: We don't charge extra for personalized paintings!

We're happy to work with you to create something special, though we may need to limit how many sample designs we whip up—our artists need to sleep occasionally, and coffee only goes so far.

A few friendly ground rules:

  • We can't swipe another artist's work (even if it's really cool). Turns out copyright law frowns on that, and we'd like to stay out of art jail.

  • We design paintings for first-timers, so we'll keep it fun and achievable—think "happy little trees," not the Sistine Chapel ceiling.

  • We'll do our best to bring your vision to life, but sometimes physics, artistic limitations, or the laws of beginner-friendly painting may require some creative compromise!

Bottom line: We love a challenge and will work with you to create something original and paint-able. Let's make some art!

Can I request a painting that I found online?

"I Found This Painting on Pinterest!" (We Hear You!)

We love when you find inspiration! Here's how it works when you fall in love with someone else's masterpiece:

Show us the painting and where you found it, and we'll play art detective to track down the original artist. Then comes the fun part: we ask nicely for permission.

The artist might say:

  • "Sure, go for it!" (Yay! Free painting!)

  • "Absolutely—for a small licensing fee." (Usually $100+, which would be your responsibility if you want to proceed)

  • "Sorry, that's my baby and I'm not sharing." (We respect that, even if we're a little heartbroken)

If we can't figure out who created it—because the internet is a mysterious void sometimes—we unfortunately can't use it. We're not trying to be difficult; we just really don't want to end up on the wrong side of an angry artist with a lawyer.

But don't worry! We're pretty good at creating original alternatives that capture the same vibe. Think of it as "inspired by" rather than "stolen from." Much better for everyone's karma.

Is there a minimum or maximum size party requirement?

Party Size: From Cozy to "Wow, That's a Lot of People!"

The minimum: Technically, we don't have one! But here's the thing—our team needs to pack up supplies, brave traffic, and possibly survive questionable GPS directions to get to you. So we do have minimum fees based on location, party length, and guest count to make the trip worthwhile. Just ask for a quote and we'll give you the honest numbers!

The maximum: We cap parties at 45 painters, because beyond that it starts to feel less like a fun paint party and more like herding caffeinated cats with brushes. Trust us, we've learned this the hard way.

That said, your venue might tap out before we do! Some locations max out at 25-30 people due to space, fire codes, or the general laws of "can humans comfortably move around without elbowing each other in the face?"

Bottom line: Pick your venue based on your guest list, and we'll make sure everyone has enough elbow room to create their masterpiece.

Can I request more than one painting for a private party?

Can I request more than one painting for a private party?

We love your ambition, but unfortunately we can only teach one painting per party!

Here's why: Our instructor would essentially need to clone themselves to teach two different paintings at once, and despite our best efforts, we haven't mastered that technology yet.

When we tried offering a choice between two paintings, it turned into chaos:

  • Half the room painting sunflowers, half painting beaches

  • The instructor sprinting back and forth like a caffeinated ping-pong ball

  • "Wait, which painting are we on?!" confusion

  • Nobody getting the attention they deserved

  • And one very exhausted instructor who may have questioned their life choices

So we keep it simple: one amazing painting, one focused instructor, and everyone creating together! It's way more fun when we're all on the same artistic journey (and our team gets to keep their sanity).

Want variety? Book multiple parties and paint ALL the things!

do you handle booking the venue or is that on me?

That one's on you, friend! You're the venue hunter for your private party.

But don't panic—we're not sending you into the wilderness alone! We have a handy list of places where we've painted before, complete with the inside scoop: what their setup is like, where to park, whether their snacks are worth it, and which venues have truly mastered the art of comfortable chairs (surprisingly important after two hours of painting).

Think of us as your painting sherpas: you pick the mountain, we bring the supplies and expertise!

Do we get to keep the paintings?

Yes! Every masterpiece goes home with its creator. Frame it, gift it, use it to prove to your friends that you're "basically an artist now"—it's all yours!

Kids Parties

What ages do you provide parties for?

If they can hold a paintbrush (or at least enthusiastically wave one around), we can throw them a party! We've done everything from pint-sized Picassos to golden-year Rembrandts. Tell us your vision and we'll figure out how to make it awesome!

What do parents do while the kids are painting?

Whatever their hearts desire—within reason! Some parents hover like art-loving helicopters, snapping 47 photos for the family group chat. Others retreat to a nearby space to enjoy actual adult conversation (we hear that's a thing parents miss).

Here's the thing: While we're amazing at teaching painting, we're not set up as a drop-off service. An appointed adult needs to hang around for all the important stuff—bathroom emergencies, sibling negotiations, juice box crises, and the occasional "I changed my mind about this color" meltdown.

Think of it this way: We handle the creative magic. You handle the parenting magic. Together, we make masterpieces (and memories)!

Bottom line: Observe, socialize, check your phone guilt-free—just don't leave the building. We promise your kids are creating something "frameable" (results may vary).

Do we get to keep the paintings?

Yes!  These masterpieces are yours!

What is the minimum/maximum size party requirement?

The minimum: Technically, we don't have one! But here's the thing—our team needs to pack up supplies, brave traffic, and possibly survive questionable GPS directions to get to you. So we do have minimum fees based on location, party length, and guest count to make the trip worthwhile. Just ask for a quote and we'll give you the honest numbers!

The maximum: We cap parties at 45 painters, because beyond that it starts to feel less like a fun paint party and more like herding caffeinated cats with brushes. Trust us, we've learned this the hard way.

For kids' parties specifically: If your little artists are on the younger side, we may need to cap the party at 20 painters. Smaller hands need more guidance, and we want to make sure every kiddo gets the attention they need to feel like a rockstar artist!

What is included in a party package?

The full artist starter pack! Think: canvas, apron (fancy protection for your outfit), easel, brushes, gorgeous paints, palette, napkins (for spills, happy accidents, and nervous hand-wiping), and water cups. Basically, everything except the talent—but don't worry, we'll help you fake that part!
